Quilted Christmas Ornaments - Supply Guide - Tutorial

Quilted Christmas Ornaments - Supply Guide - Tutorial

If you love charming and homemade Christmas Decorations, then this DIY quilted ornament is something you will love! I adore Christmas and all the cozy, fun and aesthetic decorations that come with it, and every year I experiments with new designs inspired by both interior and fashion trends as well as classic Christmas motifs.

The fabric quilted ornaments take a little time to create, but in return, you can enjoy these ornaments year after year and they are more durable than glass ornaments!

With this guide you'll get a materials list and then a youtube tutorial packed with tips and tricks to create these beautiful ornaments! You can easily change the look of the ornaments by using different various prints and colors for your fabrics, and by creating multiple sizes of styrofoam balls.

List Of Supplies:

  • Styrofoam Balls - For the standard Christmas Tree Ornaments I used the 3" Styrofoam Balls. For the bigger ornaments I made to hang from the garland around my house I used the 8" Styrofoam Balls, 6" Styrofoam Balls, & 5" Styrofoam Balls
  • Choice of fabrics - If you quilt or sew in general, now is a great time to dig through your craft scraps! I stuck to only lightweight woven fabric that you would use for quilting and lighter weight garments. If you don't sew or need more options I recommend shopping your local quilt store for options. I purchased a 1/4 yard or a fat eighth of each fabric color I wanted to use to start. You will want at least 3 different fabric for ornaments to create enough visual interest. The smaller the prints the better.
  • Glass Glitter
  • Ornament Hooks
  • Precision Craft Glue - This is a must have. It is quite literally my favorite crafting glue. It works well on so many projects. Here is the link to the re-fill as well.
  • Ultra Pro Seam Ripper
  • Floral Wire
  • Wire Cutters
  • Skewers
  • Hot Glue Gun and Refills
  • Ribbon/Seam Binding - I love the way the seam binding I used looks on the ornaments, so I'm linking here for you too!

Here is the youtube tutorial for you to reference once you have all your materials and are ready to get started!
